Claire Huchet Bishop (1888-1993) was a Swiss critic, librarian, and writer of children’s books. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, she grew up in France, attended the Sorbonne, and founded France’s first children's library, L’Heure Joyeuse. Some of her best-known children’s books are Twenty and Ten and All Alone. During and after World War II, Bishop was an outspoken opponent of anti-Semitism, working to foster better understanding between Christians and Jews.
