Albert Einstein (1879–1955) is widely considered to be the most influential physicist of the twentieth century. Born in Germany and educated at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, he is known for developing the special and general theories of relativity. Einstein won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921.
