Jacques Philippe is a Catholic priest and author whose spiritual writings have sold over a million copies in twenty-four languages. Born in 1947 in Lorraine, France, Philippe met and joined the recently-founded Community of the Beatitudes in 1976. After spending several years in Jerusalem and Nazareth studying Hebrew and the Jewish roots of Christianity, he studied theology and canon law in Rome. He began his work as a spiritual director, working in the formation of priests and seminarians of the community. In 1985 he was ordained a priest and in 1994 he returned to France, where he began regularly preaching retreats.
