CheckoutOn May 24 Plough announced and introduced the winning poet and two finalists, who read and discussed their poems in a live virtual event with Plough poetry editor A. M. Juster and Rhina P. Espaillat, the beloved ninety-year-old Dominican-American poet for whom the award is named.
Plough’s second annual Rhina Espaillat Poetry Award competition attracted over 750 poems, including many from acclaimed poets (judging is blind). The overall winner receives $2000 and two runners-up receive $250. All three are published in Plough Quarterly. Go to the Rhina Espaillat Poetry Award page to submit your poems in the 2023 competition.
